Dedicated to Making Murfreesboro and surrounding Counties Water Safe

About Your Instructor
Shantel Perry
From age 12 I grew up right here in Murfreesboro,Tennessee. I graduated from Oakland High in 2002, then went on to graduate from the University of Kentucky in 2006 with a degree in PR/sports promotion. I have recently moved from Murfreesboro and now live in Fairview, TN with my husband, Drew (also an OHS grad) who is an elementary school principal. We have two children and two dogs.
I have always LOVED the water and began swimming for a small summer league team when I was 6. At age 8 I started competing year-round with the local club teams which eventually led me to compete for the University of Kentucky on scholarship from 2002-2006. While at Kentucky with some hard work and a little luck, I qualified and competed in the 2004 USA Olympic Team Trials and received All American recognition at the NCAA Championships. Swimming has given me the opportunity to travel and compete internationally and without it there is a part of me that doesn't know who I would be today.
My competitive coaching and instructional career began in high school where I dabbled in coaching summer league swimmers. It wasn't until after college that I decided to make a career out of coaching competitive, year-round swimmers. Learn to swim lessons for little guys and adults, competitive stroke technique, summer league, high school, age group, and national level success are all a part of my resume. After having my baby boy in August of 2016, I decided to take a step back from year-round coaching and into seasonal high school coaching where I had the honor of being the head coach of the 11 consecutive time, Rutherford County Championship, Oakland High School Swim Team for 5 years! In addition to teaching lessons I coach competitive,10 and Under swimmers for Excel Aquatics in Brentwood, TN as well as sub for the Special Education Department in Williamson County Schools.
